Week 8 Practice Task: Prepare a grammar activity For Week 8, bring a grammar activity to demonstrate in small groups, and maybe with the class. The grammar activity can be to practice use or to focus on form. Choose a grammar point and create the activity + materials to match the grammar point. The activity can be for any age group. The materials can be: word cards, worksheet, board game, etc. Note: This is not whole lesson, just one activity. Reading homework due October 31 (Week 9)
There are two homework tasks for Week 9. 1 Reading 2 Choosing units 1. Reading Here is the introduction chapter of the "Teaching Grammar Creatively" grammar activity book we will use for the final assignment. Read the chapter and complete the sentences on the cover sheet.
2. Choosing units
Take a look at the book below. Each unit (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 …) has a different grammar point. Choose 1-2 units (from any chapter) that you may like to prepare a lesson for. Print those specific units (or you can view on your phone or laptop) and bring them next week. Next week we will confirm who is going to do each unit and start preparing for the final presentations.
Homework for Week 10 (November 7)
Bring your first draft of your lesson plan. (Copy the general design of the units in the Teaching Grammar Creatively book.) This means a basic outline of the key parts of the lesson with some examples of materials you may need for the lesson. The materials don’t need to be 100% complete, but enough to show and explain. Materials can be found or created. Tip: Think critically about the lesson. Add examples, materials and context to make it better and more fun for Korean students. Week 10: Lesson planning workshop (bring your computers) We will do feedback sessions during class. Deadline in Week 11 Homework for Week 11 (14 November)
Bring your completed lesson plan + materials to class. Print your lesson plan and materials to submit in a folder or envelope. Materials do not need to be color and laminated, but they should be enough for me to see and give feedback. I will return the lesson plans with feedback the following week.
