Homework Assignments
Reading files and other assignment info will be posted here.
Week 3 reading (due September 17)
Read chapter 1 (below) about Task-Based Language Teaching and answer the questions on the first page. Short answers are fine. Your answers are for group and class discussions.
Week 4 reading (due September 24)
Week 7 reading (due October 15)
The are two tasks with the reading.
1. Do the task on the first page of the reading (bring a material for next class) 2. Choose one part of the reading that you agree with and be prepared to discuss it next week. A part can be a paragraph, a page, or a section.
Week 8 homework (due October 22)
Prepare a short speaking activity to share in small groups. Read the chapter on my website (file below) for ideas and guidance. The speaking activity does not need a lot of scaffolding and it can be for any age group or level. Be prepared to share your activity next week.
Homework due Week 9 (October 29)
1. Think of a task you would like to develop a lesson plan for. The task should have a non-linguistic outcome. It can be an activation task (not similar to real world) or a pedagogical task (similar to real world). Think about the language needed to complete the task. Be ready to discuss the task design (materials, steps, outcome) next week.
2. Read the document below and answer the questions on the first page.
Homework due Week 10 (November 5)
Read the whole text and complete the first page.
Schedule for the final section of the course:
Week 11: Feedback session. Bring your lesson plan drafts and computers (if you want to work during class) for feedback in class. Week 12: Deadline. Submit your lesson plans and materials. Week 13: Lesson plans returned and make a schedule for the final micro-teaching. Week 14 & 15: Final micro-teaching of your lesson plans. Files for the final assignment
Use this template for your lesson plans:
Here is an example lesson plan. This uses a different template, but look at how much detail is included in the steps of the lesson. This is a good example of how to write a lesson plan.
