Reading homework due October 17th
Homework task: Find and bring an authentic English language material to class, for example a brochure or a menu. Think about which education setting it would be useful for, how you would use it in teaching, and what activities you could do with it. Bring it to class for discussion.
Homework for Week 8 (October 24th)
Prepare a short speaking activity to share in small groups. Read the chapter below (part 2 of the reading homework from last week) for ideas and guidance. The speaking activity does not need a lot of scaffolding and it can be for any age group or level. Be prepared to share your activity next week. This reading is for reference. Please bring it next week for discussion:
Homework for Week 9 (October 31)
Think of a task you would like to develop a lesson plan for. The task should have a non-linguistic outcome. It can be an activation task (not similar to real world) or a pedagogical task (similar to real world). Think about the language needed to complete the task. Be ready to discuss the task design (materials, steps, outcome) next week. Homework for Week 10 (November 7)
No specific homework for Week 10. BUT lesson deadline is in Week 11, so you could start lesson planning if you want to finish this assignment quickly. In Week 10 we will talk about lesson objectives and do more example speaking lessons. You can also check the files below to help you start your lesson plans:
Please use this simple lesson template for your lesson plan:
Homework for Week 11 (14 November)
Bring your completed lesson plan + materials to class. Print your lesson plan and materials to submit in a folder or envelope. Materials do not need to be color and laminated, but they should be enough for me to see and give feedback. I will return the lesson plans with feedback the following week. |
