Prepare a short speaking activity to share in small groups. Read the chapter on my website (part 2 of the reading homework for week 5) for ideas and guidance.
The speaking activity does not need a lot of scaffolding and it can be for any age group or level. Be prepared to share your activity in week 6.

Bring your first draft of your lesson plan for discussion in class. 
  • Choose your age and level first.
  • Choose target language that is useful and common.
  • Target language can be situational, functional, everyday expressions, or a grammar point. (However, it’s not a grammar lesson). Remember: You are scaffolding new target language, so you also need to teach what it means.
  • Choose a communicative fluency activity, e.g. survey, role-play, interview, information gap, guessing game…
  • Write your SLO. Use the formula we have covered.
