Balanced Literacy Approach (BLA) reading assignment. Read BLA chapter 1 below and post on the e-class discussion board. The chapter includes many added questions in red text. Choose any of the questions to answer (one or more), and make a post on the discussion board for week 3. Include your thoughts, opinions, examples, and experiences. We will discuss your answers related to the reading and other content from the reading each week in class.
Book reports due September 23
Complete and bring (printed or photo) 2 or more book reports. The book report files are on my website. You can complete the book reports by yourself, or, even better, get your students to do them. Bring the book reports (or photos of the book reports) + the book if possible to next class. This reading is all about comprehension. Pay attention to the “comprehension strategies” on pages 259-268. Choose one strategy and consider how you could teach this strategy? What kind of material or activity would you use? Bring your idea to class for discussion. (No discussion board for this week)
Week 13 homework (November 25)
Start preparing for 5-day plan presentation. Bring a draft for discussion. See the Week 12 PPT for info. The chapter below has a lot of ideas and info. (No discussion board for this week)
